Despite the pouring rain which greeted her as she arrived in York and the soaking she got later on Friday evening, Lemlem Berhe Tsegay,  did manage to see the sunshine during her brief stay in the city!

Lemlem, who works as a Water and Irrigation engineer for CAFOD’s partner, the Adigrat Catholic Secretariat in Ethiopia has been visiting England since the end of April was on her first ever visit outside of Ethiopia and had come to support CAFOD’s Thirst for Change campaign. She has been travelling around CAFOD’s Offices throughout England and Wales taking part in local activities and sharing her experiences of working to find solutions to the problems of accessing clean water and sanitation facilities. She very proudly told us that she enjoyed her work and had designed a toilet block for girls in a school, so they were able to go to the toilet in private, something that had kept the girls away from school as they did not want to go in the fields as they had to do before the toilets were installed.

On Saturday morning she awoke to beautiful sunshine and managed to see the City in all its glory blessed with blue skies before travelling on to Hull!
