“Ending Poverty is a Marathon not a Sprint”

2 for 1 entry to run the Yorkshire Marathon for CAFOD! Sign up with a friend and race together to transform lives!
Good news for all you aspiring athletes – the registration deadline for the Yorkshire Marathon has been extended to Tuesday, 12 August!
This year, CAFOD is offering a unique opportunity for people hoping to take part in the run – sign up together with a friend and £40 will cover both your registrations and you can fundraise together towards your £500. As an added benefit, you won’t be alone on your training through the summer months! http://www.cafod.org.uk/Fundraise/Sponsored-events/Yorkshire-Marathon
The marathon, which claims to be ‘flatter and faster than London, Paris, Chicago and Berlin’, will take place this year on Sunday, 12 October. The 26.2 mile route passes some of the historic sites of York and takes runners down picturesque country lanes.
Last year Father Paul Dowling, from St Mary’s, Market Weighton, Yorkshire, raised over £600 when he took part in the Yorkshire Marathon for CAFOD.
After the race, he told us “Running the first Yorkshire Marathon was an amazing experience, the event was well organised and the scenery around York is breathtaking. The support from the CAFOD team was tremendous throughout the day, cheering and shouting support at the 21 mile mark when I was feeling like I couldn’t go any further.”
We still have places available to run as part of Team CAFOD, so sign up now and help us tackle poverty and injustice around the world! Please get in touch with CAFOD’s events team at cafodchallenge@cafod.org.uk to find out more, or fill in our online form to register your interest in running on behalf of CAFOD.
