The award winning Harmonia Ladies Choir which was formed in 2008 starred in a Summer Serenade at Ss. Leonard & Mary’s Church in Malton on Saturday 18th June and regaled the audience with a mixture of gospel, jazz, traditional spiritual, folk ballads and songs from the shows, under the expert guidance of Alison Davies, the Musical Director. The 50 strong group won three awards at the Eskdale Festival held in Whitby earlier this year. The event had been organised for CAFOD’s Connect2 El Salvador project by a group from Ss. Leonard and Mary’s parish. During the interval refreshments were served to the 100 people attending the event and one of them sent this message of appreciation to Rev Timothy Bywater, the parish priest, “ What a super evening we had on Saturday at the CAFOD fund raising event. The Choir were excellent and the Church was a perfect venue for the acoustics and community gathering. What a warm welcome we had as visitors and we were taken aback by the srummy refreshments! Please thank those concerned for their efforts – what a really good evening we all had”!
CAFOD contact, Stephanie Winter said “Everybody worked so hard to make it a success and I feel it really heightened CAFOD’s profile as information leaflets on CAFOD’s work and the Connect2 project were given out. All the organiser’s were delighted with the outcome”! The evening raised £943 for the parish’s Connect2 El Salvador project which they have supported since 2010. Well done to all concerned for your amazing efforts!
